'Our Song' - Animation Director
by Ace Animation Studios

Incredibly excited to be appointed the role of Animation Director for the upcoming 2D short animated film "Our Song" which has officially begun pre-production.
I am looking forward to collaborating with incredible Director and Image Award nominee
Stephanie Glover of Ace Animation, Emmy nominated Television Writer and Content Creator Darnell Lamont Walker and Art Director Noah Maestre, in helping to bring this wonderful heartfelt story to life alongside a talented team of artists.

The story will explore the relationship between a father and his son with ectrodactyly, and is a beautiful reminder of the limitless potential within us all. Celebrating diversity and empowering children with limb differences, showing them that they matter and there are no limits to what they may achieve.

I couldn't be more excited to be a part of such a wonderful team and look forward to the journey it brings.

British Association of Film, Television and Screen Studies Awards 2024 - Winner

I am delighted to share that my Master’s paper which was shortlisted for the British Association of Film, Television and Screen Studies was announced as the winner overnight at the University of Sussex. I’m so incredibly grateful and thankful to #BAFTSS2024 for the recognition of my theoretical study and animation of ‘Sultan T. Sloth’ (2023).

Congratulations to all the other winners and shortlisted candidates throughout the awards. I am very honoured to have been apart of it all and a big shout out to my supervisors Dr. Matthew Riley, Dr. Chris Barker and Uyen Nguyen at RMIT University for their support and guidance along the way.

What the Judges Had to Say:
"This project examines hybrid animations, which combine three-dimensional stop-motion techniques with two-dimensional hand-drawn images, through theories of new materialism, phenomenology and movement. In this sense, Amber Stacey draws from the history of animation and digital editing to explore the potential of hybrid film forms to visualise emotion in films such as Sultan T. Sloth (2023). The essay analyses film from its production to screened image to offer a new perspective on digital storytelling."

San Diego International Children's Film Festival
@San Diego Comic-Con 2023

'Stan and Sven: A Plan to Help Stan' writer Denise Stacey and myself, were invited to attend San Diego International Children's Film Festival at the San Diego Comic-Con International. Here, our film was screened as part of the program and later I joined the panel to talk about the making of the film, my practice and journey into filmmaking, all the way from Australia.

It was an incredible experience for both of us, in which we shared in many discussions with local and international filmmakers, experienced our first SDCC across the 4 days and I was later interviewed by Bryn Wright for Australia's Funky Kids Radio Show about her experience at Comic-Con and further discussion on the short film. It was a fantastic week exploring San Diego and meeting many other artists throughout the journey. It was humbling to see the reaction to Stan & Sven throughout the screening and we look forward to now translating this into print for Denise's long awaited children's picture book.

This trip wouldn't have been possible without the amazing support of those who contributed to my GoFundMe page and we are so incredibly grateful for the opportunity and support. Thank you to every single one of you who helped us get there.

Also an incredible big thank you to the San Diego International Children's Film Festival for the invite and allowing us to be a part of it all. We hope to return again one day in the future.
